5i will ensure that data on the device that needs to be retained is removed, encrypted and securely stored. All forms of device storage, drives, RAM and ROM, will then be wiped multiple times so there is no chance of any data remaining. A certificate is produced confirming that the device’s data has been destroyed. The device will then be destroyed, with secure destruction and compliance to electronic waste disposal regulations proven through further certification.
At this final point, the device is marked on the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) as retired. Reports derived from the CMDB will provide insight into how the asset has performed throughout its complete lifecycle.
